Class showcase- Creature Comforts

One of our greatest joys as teacher/guides here at Art is Magic is seeing the work that you all create inspired by the workshops. It makes us feel all warm and goey as we cheer you on along your creative journey. So, of course, I'm excited to share with you some of the gorgeous work created from Fonda’s Creature Comforts workshop.

This class is all about animals. How to pay attention to the details, how to bring them to life and give them character. As artists, we train ourselves to really look at the details. To get lost in those details, is the essence of creating animals or any art on the page.

A wonderful class and a true game changer for me. Fonda guided us expertly through rendering fur, eyes, noses, ears and the other important bits of our animal muses to inject the spirit of that creature into our own style of painting (wherever that sits on the scale of realism to expressionism).

Fonda’s teaching style is generous and nurturing. This atmosphere extends into the Facebook classroom making the interaction with other students a delightful and supportive experience.

My work has taken on a new direction after this class. I’m incorporating more collage and experimenting with new, furrier species of model (who would have thought goats, sheep and llamas would be so interesting to paint). Thank you Fonda for a great four weeks.

I finished Creature Comforts with Fonda Clark a few months ago and I am still wondering how she pulled such good art out of me. I look at the pictures I did during the course and can see my progression. I will never forget how to paint fur!  This was a wonderful class with a great teacher who always inspired. Thanks Fonda!

Fonda has an amazing unique quality and way of teaching, that will make you come back for more and more at every class she teaches.. I’ve never had a class from someone who can deliver the tasks at hand with such wisdom and clarity.

This creature comfort class set me on a path to be able to draw animals that I had never attempted before. Fonda imparts confidence in her students abilities and shares tips and nuggets for your toolbox of skills. She delivers instruction with ease and comfort. I recommend this class for anyone wanting to draw animals or even to experience new ways to see your work and skill set. You will never be sorry when you take class from Fonda as she can impart ( I want to say, with supernatural ability)to each student their needs. You’ll come away changed and wiser and having a new friend who makes you feel like she’s dropped in for a visit right in your own creative space. You are missing out if you haven’t taken a class from our amazing, in tune, teacher extraordinaire, Fonda !

I’m a visual poet working in just about any medium I can lay my hands on although I am a professionally trained photographer and a so called “self-taught” artist (of course there have been many teachers on that path). I’m in love with the creative process. I’m a beauty unveiler, light huntress, moment caresser and visionary poetess. Ultimately, all of my work is about helping people peel back the layers to experience the intense beauty of each moment allowing access to both their intuitive wisdom and a deeper connection to spirit and self. (Because the beauty of this life cracks our hearts open and it is through the cracks that light can flow both in and out and connect us back to our divine selves) That is what I do and I do it through photography, art, journaling and teaching. I live in the insanely beautiful Blue Mountains, just shy of Sydney, with my family, our cat and all the winged ones who frequent our garden. Each day here is a wondrous delight of tiny miracles through either the glorious light or magical mists. I would love to work with you, have a look around and see where you are called...
